Randy began sitting with the Chapel Hill Zen Center in 1991. He has coordinated the children’s program since 2004. His chief koan is “how does one communicate zen to a child?”
Lance Ashdown has been a Zen student since 1992, studying first at Mount Baldy Zen Center and then with Joko Beck and Diane Rizzetto of the Ordinary Mind School. He moved with his wife and two daughters to Chapel Hill in 2009, and began sitting at CHZC. He began teaching in the Younger Kids Program in 2010.
Josho Pat Phelan Sensei is the Abbess of the Chapel Hill Zen Center. The Children’s Program is an extension of the practice at CHZC.
